Work Weekends & Work Weeks

Work Weekends
Fee: $50 for food

Happening right at the very beginning and end of our season, work weekends are a great opportunity for community members new and old to spend time together at camp while bettering our beloved facilities. (Note: The Members Weekend serves as our Closing Work Weekend.) If you are a long-time Unirondacker, work weekends are a pleasurable way to reconnect. If you have never been to camp before, work weekends are a relaxed and casual way to make new friends and get to know Unirondack. Come work up a sweat while helping prepare camp for its winter hibernation or for its busy open season!

Work Weeks
Fee: $100 for food

This year, we're excited to be able to offer full weeks of work both in the spring and in the autumn, in addition to our usual opening and closing work weekends. Many find this informal shared labor deeply satisfying, and our buildings and grounds appreciate the opportunity for some love. Enjoy all of camp’s amenities on your own time, in a smaller group setting, once the day’s work is done. Get to know the inner workings of our plumbing, electrical, and water treatment systems, or learn all about all the interesting tools hidden in our rustic maintenance workshop: Wayne Manor.

Pricing:
Work weeks and work weekends are the only programs at Unirondack that don’t operate on a sliding scale price model, because the fee we charge is only used to cover food for the weekend. These events are basically work exchanges: You’re contributing your labor and expertise so that when the day’s work is done we can enjoy camp together.

Registration:
Please register online for the work weekend or work week you plan to attend, and feel free to let us know if you have any particular skills or tools that you would like to offer. We will prepare a list of tasks and projects to send out with the welcome email about one week ahead of arrival. Work weekends are for all ages (those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult). If you are coming with a young child, please be aware that your child will need to be supervised during the time you are working (and throughout the weekend).

Deadline:
Please remember to register at least one week before the work week or work weekend you plan to attend. Registration will automatically close one week prior to arrival, so reach out directly to the managers if you need to register late. Registering less than one week before the event will incur a 20% late fee on top of the standard price.
