Directions To Lowville, NY
The best way to find your way to camp is to do a maps/GPS search from your home to Route 12 and River Street in Lowville, NY. Then follow the local directions below from Lowville to Camp Unirondack. Camp is approximately 30 minutes from the town of Lowville.
Directions from Lowville, NY
to Camp Unirondack
(from Route 12 & River Street in Lowville)
In Lowville, turn east on River Street from Route 12 (there is a Stewart’s Gas Station on the southwest corner of River Street). If you are driving north on Route 12 that means you will make a right to get onto River Street/Country Rd 22. Continue on River Street for 4 miles (it becomes Number Four Road). After 4 miles take a left hand turn to continue on Number Four Road/Country Rd 26 (the Corner Corral will be on the far left corner and a garden nursery will be on your right). Stay on Number Four Road for 13.5 miles. Turn right onto Stillwater Road (you will see a sign for Stillwater Reservoir). Continue 1.2 miles on Stillwater road until you see a colorful Unirondack mailbox on your right. The entrance to Unirondack will be on your left, marked by a tall sign on a tree. Follow a narrow dirt road for approximately one mile to the Camp Unirondack site. This is a one lane road with cars coming in both directions! Drive very slowly and watch for cars coming in the other direction. Pay special attention around curves in road. Be ready to pull over to the side if a car is coming in the other direction. There is a parking lot on the upper level of camp and parking areas on our field on the lower level of camp.

Feeling Safe while Traveling to Camp
While Unirondack is a very welcoming and inclusive community, we are located in a geographical area that is not always known for sharing our values. Driving to camp means traveling through a remote rural area that is politically very right-leaning. While we have worked hard to cultivate positive relationships with our neighbors, and we have not had any community members recently report negative experiences, we recognize that it can still feel uncomfortable or even unsafe for some of our community members - particularly BIPOC, Queer and Trans community members - to travel through these areas. If this is an obstacle for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d be happy to connect you with our shuttle service, coordinate a carpool, or send a staff member to accompany you for part of your trip. It is a priority for us to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable getting to camp.
