To say we had a good summer feels strange. We had To say we had a good summer feels strange. We had some incredible folks volunteer their time to paint and clean and care for camp. We had incredible online programs we are so proud of. And we even created inside jokes in our own special Unirondack way! But as we look to close things up next month it feels so bittersweet. Please be on the lookout for ways to promote camp next year. Umm shoutout to @tino.lees... @emerson_kennedy_ is Umm shoutout to @tino.lees... @emerson_kennedy_ is passing YOU the URock and we couldn’t agree more! Tino won the U-Rock! They are a vital member of our camp community. Usually kitchen staff, they have stepped up immeasurably this year to run mental health programming, vital always, but especially right now. They have created the space for people to feel and process together every single week, which is no small feat. Tino lights up every room they walk into, bringing laughter and a sense of calm all at once. They deserve recognition for their work, and to remember that camp will always love them!

(This butterfly just brings all sorts of joy in general) Episode 2 of The Wake-Up Bell is about campfire. Through a series of conversations with campers of all ages, we explore what time spent sitting along Beaver Lake, watching for shooting stars overhead, and listening to our community can mean. Just like a real Unirondack campfire this episode may make you laugh, cry, ponder the universe, and everything in between. Next week's episode is about the Channing session. Hello to the beautiful Camp Unirondack community! Hello to the beautiful Camp Unirondack community! We hope that this post finds you well during these strange times, and may even offer you some excitement! We are so thrilled to share that we will be starting a new, interactive Camp Unirondack podcast called "The Wake-Up Bell"! Each week we will be exploring a new topic, and we want YOU to be involved! We will post a new topic once or twice a week along with a deadline of when to send in your response. Some weeks we will give you a set of prompts to reflect on and have you record yourself, other weeks we will give you a call and have it be more like an interview. We will specify each week what we are looking for, and you can always reach out to us for assistance and we will be happy to help you record. Our goal is to have community members of all ages be involved- from those of you who have been a part of our camp since the beginning to those of you who are just discovering us. Your voice is important and valued! We may not be able to feature everyone who expresses interest in each episode, but we will make sure that you will be involved in some way if you want to be. To kick off the summer, we will be doing the first in our series of session based episodes: The Barton episode! As the summer goes on and when we would normally be welcoming in our new session of campers, we will be posting an episode based on that age group. As always, we will begin with Barton. Barton is our 9-12 year olds, and is a very exciting time! For many, this is the first time you experienced sleepaway camp. For many parents/caretakers, this is the first time you are leaving your child at sleepaway camp! And for many summer camp staff, this is when it gets real. We want to talk about all things Barton! Do you have a Barton aged child who may want to answer some questions? Were you a Barton camper once and now bring your own kids to Unirondack? Were you never a Unirondack camper and Barton was your first experience with being a staff member? We want to hear what you have to share! (Continued in comments!)

Emerson Kennedy Roberts embodies the values of Unirondack in every way. An integral member of the Wayne Crew for the last two summers, Emerson has stepped up as an active programmer to run impactful programs like meditations and mental illness discussions, and our very first virtual Morning Program! Additionally, they started an awesome website called Brain Backpack as a queer-friendly mental health resource (@brainbackpack). Thanks, Emerson, you rock. -Julia
